Lord's Taverners
January 21st 2021 TFCC sent off their delivery, of unused old Crickfest t-shirts to the Lord's Taverners Sports Kit Recycling.
Many young people in the UK and abroad find it hard to access sport, with one of the main barriers being a simple lack of access to the right kit and equipment.
Lord's Taverners sports kit recycling programme collects usable kit from across the UK through a network of local ‘collection hubs’.
The kit is then sorted and redistributed to partnered organisations within the UK and around the world, who can put it to great use in their communities.
Donor Guidelines:
- Dropping off donations at ALL collection hubs
- Please ensure that all items are properly cleaned and reusable
- All clothing/equipment must be in a sealed container, box or bag
- Agree a mutual date and time to drop off donation
- When handling containers/bags, please wear gloves/face masks
- If directed by collection hub, place donation in designated collection zone
BBC Kit the Nation Campaign
Local BBC radio stations across England, and BBC radio stations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are coming together to Kit out the Nation. Watch the Video to learn all about it.
Then listen to Tom talk to the BBC about what we do at TFCC and how we are helping the Campaign in the audio clip next to the video.
In July, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee published data from Sport England which showed 100,000 fewer children met the recommended level of activity in 2020 than in 2019 and it was "of significant concern".
There has been a long standing issue around access to sport and exercise because of the affordability of kit. Also, good condition equipment, that would otherwise go to landfill or simply remain in cupboards, could get an extended life and help a young person get active.
How you can get involved?
They are looking for everyday items of sports kit (clothing) and regular games equipment that a young person can use in an activity, such as balls, bats and rackets.
So, check out your cupboards, sort out the bedrooms and if you’ve got unwanted sports kit or equipment help us get them to children and young adults.
Where can you donate your unwanted sports kits?
There are hundreds of locations to donate your unwanted kit. Some companies and charities can take your kit off your hands ready for distribution; some are collecting donations to help fund kit for young people; some are local to specific areas and some are nationwide across the UK. We are 1 of those Hubs please get in touch if you wish to drop anything off with us at our office in Billesdon.

"We had a tee-riffic day on Friday 10th May with our annual LOROS Golf Day, hosted at the picturesque Rothley Park Golf Club. And what great weather we had!
Thank you so much for all your support that helped make this fundraising event a success! I am delighted to share that the event raised £19,000 for LOROS. With your continued support LOROS can be there for many more terminally ill patients and their families across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, providing specialist compassionate care for families when they need it most.
