“ A few years ago I took a step away from cricket, a mix of injuries and personal circumstances left me falling a bit out of love with the game. When I came back to it last year, I found it very frustrating, knowing I was doing things wrong but not having the knowledge and insight to work out what they were or how to fix them. One of the things I said for the majority of the season was how it is such a shame that as soon as you stop being a junior cricketer you lose access to coaching. I was never a sensational cricketer but I am the sort of person who enjoys working hard and trying to improve so over the winter I started looking for someone who could help me feel good about my cricket again.
I was lucky enough to come across the TFCC coaching group as I browsed and asked for 4 1-2-1 sessions to be booked as a Christmas present (we all know how hard it is to find something good to ask for!). Speaking to people before hand I said how I had my reservations, there are a lot of cricket coaches out there and not all of them provide the level, of care, attention and experience as others. Given this I said I would use the four sessions as a bit of a taster to see if it was worth the cost in addition to the 75 mile round trip. Given this skepticism, no one was more surprised than me when after one session I came home and booked in for another 4!
Now coached by Callum, every week I manage to come away from the session feeling like I have gained something really valuable from it. You feel listened to and it always feels like the coaches are working with you and working for you rather than just being there to teach you. When I am playing on a weekend and I play some of the shots we have been developing I can’t help but smile to myself thinking how I wouldn’t have been able to do this on my own. I can’t speak highly enough of my experience with the guys and look forward to continuing it for some time to come! ”
