How long are the residentials?
4 nights and 5 days. Specific course/venue timings are released approx 6 weeks out from the course starting.
What is the accommodation and how does the rooming work?
Accommodation is halls of residence. Rooming is anywhere between 1-4 people, and preference of smaller/individual rooms is given to the older attendees first.
Boys and girls are in separate and segregated accommodation. Requests to share with friends/peers will be noted but cannot be promised.
What can I expect to receive after enrolling on the course?
You can expect to receive a confirmation of booking (receipt) after initial booking. You will then receive a joining email 6 weeks out from the course with specific instructions for your course.
Precourse suitability and quality control checks
It is standard practice for TFCC to request a call with applicants to ensure suitability checks are carried out for the course. This is to ensure both expectations are aligned and also for quality assurance purposes across the intake.
Food and dietary requirements
In line with our performance courses, all food is prepared fresh, wholesome and with a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as a protein, carbohydrate and healthy options at each meal.
TFCC will take all reasonable requests for any food/dietary requirements prior to the course. There is always a wide selection of foods at our venues to accommodate as many individuals as possible. Please note, whilst we can accommodate allergies, intolerances and religious requirements, we are unable to facilitate requests for 'preferences' of food.
Official residential clothing to purchase
This can be purchased via our website link. Please note the clothing is an optional extra and not compulsory. All clothing must be ordered by (March 1st) for Easter courses and (July 1st) for Summer courses when orders are submitted. Orders will then be handed out at registration at course arrival.
Reflections and residential report
We encourage and promote independent learning, reflection and thinking amongst our cohorts. Reflections will be done multiple times daily after each session, and can be done in official course booklets or similar. All attendees are encouraged to have their notebooks available 24/7, and also have any reflections signed/countersigned by the various coaching teams throughout for comment.
As with the immersive performance environment created, there will be no official 'report' at the end of the course, instead we encourage all attendees to use the feedback exercise of having to explain their key takeaways to parents/coaches/guardians as part of the learning process.
Early bird release and waiting lists
The Early bird waiting list will be available for sign up from September 1st with residentials released around 1st November each year. Our courses do tend to sell out, so if your preferred course is full please do request to be placed on our waiting list as occasionally places can become available.
Day attendees
Day attendees must arrive by 8:50am and depart at 4pm. No lunch is provided for day attendees.
What happens in the evenings during residentials?
There is a full evening seminar/activity programme throughout the residentials, as well as some much needed recovery/down time for participants.
DofE participants
Please see DofE section. Participants must provide their participant ID number and full name to Tom upon arrival at the course
Age groups and ability
Courses are split based on age/ability. This usually entails 3-4 groups across the ages of 11-17. It makes no difference which group you are in regarding course content or access to coaches, as coaches are rotated and follow the TFCC Elite Residential programme of content.
What supervision is there at night?
The TFCC team are highly experienced pastorally at running the Elite residentials. All staff are trained both internally and externally, and have DBS and safeguarding qualifications. At all times participants will have access to the pastoral staff on the courses.
Are the children allowed off the school campus?
There may be opportunities for children (in groups of no less than 3) to walk to the nearby shop at our residentials. This will be during any free time, and they will have to both sign out and return within a given timeframe.
Are the cricket facilities and accommodation within the campus of the school?
All facilities (accommodation, dining and cricket) are within close proximity of each other at our courses.
Is there provision on the course for inclement weather?
Yes, all courses have pre-booked indoor nets as back-up for inclement weather.
Is there any flexibility on the pick up and drop off times?
Any request for these must be made to [email protected] prior to 6 weeks of the course beginning. Whilst all requests will be considered, we cannot guarantee anything outside of the official course start and end times.
Can my child travel independently?
Occasionally, 17 year olds may request to either drive or travel independently to/from the course. This must be pre-approved (at time of booking) and cannot be assumed by attendees. Please note, if driving to the course keys must be handed in at the beginning and collected at the end of the course.
What kit and equipment should I bring?
The full kit list will be sent out prior to the course in the joining email.
Can I watch my child playing?
As the course is an Elite training camp, as well as promoting independence amongst players along with a flexible schedule, we recommend for the benefit of the players that parents/guardians don't come and watch throughout the course until collection.
